FIELDNOTE / How it works

Rules first.
Results second.

Fieldnote helps you test trading ideas without fooling yourself. Fieldnote runs the supported MNQ overnight-gap test after you clarify and freeze its executable rules. Other strategies use your own backtesting tool and imported evidence.

01

Write one idea.

Describe where it applies, how you will test it, and what would prove it wrong. Save an incomplete draft and return later.

02

Freeze before you look.

Complete the execution rules and cost assumptions. Freezing is explicit and irreversible for this version. Revisions become successor drafts.

03

Bring back the evidence.

Run the supported MNQ overnight-gap test in Fieldnote after reviewing and freezing its executable rules. For other strategies or markets, save external results and limitations against the exact version you tested.

04

Keep observing.

Development (DEV) is exploration. Out of sample (OOS) means data held apart from rule selection. Prospective means observations collected forward in time; paper means simulated execution. Labels do not independently validate these conditions.
